WHAT IS STEM CELL TRANSPLANT?

A stem cell transplant, also called bone marrow transplant, is a medical treatment that replaces your bone marrow with healthy cells. The replacement cells can either come from your own body or from a donor. In stem cell transplants, stem cells replace cells damaged by chemotherapy or serve as a way for the donor’s immune system to fight some types of cancer and blood-related diseases.

Bone marrow is extracted from a patient’s hip, abdomen, or other parts of the body. The bone marrow is centrifuged, separating the stem cells from other components in the marrow. The final product is injected directly into the affected disc or joint using ultrasound imaging. Stem cells are found in bones and the liver.

A stem cell transplant may help you live longer. In some cases, it can even cure blood cancers. Stem cells also enhance tissue regeneration and repair.

BENEFITS

Stem cells help to treat cardiovascular diseases. These diseases deprive the heart tissues of oxygen, causing the formation of scars which leads to high blood pressure. Stem cells can help enhance the growth of healthy skin and stimulate hair development after incisions or loss. Stem cell treatment also helps to substitute scar tissue with newly developed healthy tissue.

Stem cell treatment involves the harvesting of your healthy stem cells, spinning them in a centrifuge to separate out the needed cells, and then reinjecting those cells into the treatment area.

SCIENTIFIC STUDY

Scientists use stem cells to search for new drugs that improve their function or alter the progress of disease, as well as to test how drugs might affect the different organs of the body, such as the kidneys and liver.

WHO DISCOVERED ?

Ernest McCulloch and James Till discovered stem cells in the 1960s and demonstrated their role in blood cell formation through a series of experiments in mice.

TYPES

There are two types of stem cells:

Embryonic: These stem cells are characterized as pluripotent, meaning they are capable of developing into specialized adult cells.
Adult: These types of stem cells exist in certain tissues of the body.

Stem cells differ from other cells in three ways: they are unspecialized, they can renew themselves over a long time, and they cannot perform specific functions in the body.

WHAT TYPE OF BIOLOGY AND BIO TECHNOLOGY ?

According to microbiology, stem cells present in the body have the ability to differentiate into various cell types and are essential for replacing damaged cells due to disease.

ACCORDING TO MICROBIOLOGY

According to micro biology the stem cell present in the body which have ability to differentiate into different types of cells and these are essential cells which replace the damaged cells due to any disease.
